...a God to serve...a family to love... a work to do...

Why You Need To Prepare

When a disaster strikes you have about 3 hours to make sure you have shelter, about 3 days to find potable water and 3 weeks to find some food. You’ll suddenly need to be concerned about protecting your family and belongings, keeping track of everyone in your family, and if the disaster is drawn out, you’ll need to be concerned with producing food.

Are you ready for that?

Most of us aren’t. Preparation is key. Here are just a few factors to consider when you are thinking about preparing but not really doing it.

  • Severe weather happens and will continue to happen.  Electricity goes out, water is cut off .
  • Social unrest is a real possibility with world political situations as they are.
  • The dollar is weak and getting weaker. Just take a look at what has been happening in Greece and in the U.K.   Don’t be naive about it, it could happen here. So read those links and just ponder it for a while.
  • Because of the economic situation here in the US, jobs are less and less secure and unemployment is high. If you or the main bread-winner in your home isn’t working, that’s a disaster.
  • Because real families are made up of all kinds of people and different people need different items to thrive.
  • Emergencies come in all sizes but if you’re not prepared, any emergency can seem like the end of the world.

If you are a Christian, you can rely on the Lord to provide what you need. That doesn’t mean however that you won’t go through hard times.. even really hard times. And it doesn’t mean that you can just sit back and do nothing to prepare your family for disaster.

That’s why its prudent to be prepared for situations that could arise. I’m not talking thousands of dollars worth of stored foods and weapons. I’m talking reasonable, effective, useful preparations. No one is going to prepare for you and your family. You must take action and be responsible for yourself and for them.

Here is a Food Storage Calculator that will tell you how many pounds of each food you need for the members of your family for a period of 1 year. To prepare for a shorter time, for example 3 months, just divide your results by 12 (one year) and that will give you how many pounds of that food you need for one month. Then calculate how much you need based on that.

Here is another Food Storage Calculator that works in the same way but you can change the numbers manually and print out your personalized results.

And finally, here is a resource that will only be available for another 7 days. This bundle contains over 45 books and instructional videos by over 35 authors.  Here is just  a sample of what is contained in this treasure chest of prepping and survival knowledge:

What if I told you you could learn the basics of prepping (no nonsense and simple approach) for less than the cost of a dinner out with the family?

I’m not off the wall about this. It is possible! Check out The Ultimate Survival Bundle:

    Don’t think it can happen?
Last week, several Colorado mountain towns were completely cut off from the rest of the world. They were turned into small islands surrounded by swiftly flowing water. We don’t get rain like that here, normally! Colorado is a fairly arid place. But, because the storms continued for a few days, rescue had to wait for many. As of yesterday, there were still a few hundred people unaccounted for. They are probably people without any phone service to let others know where they are.
    The unusual can happen!
