What Are You Stressing About?

Christmas is a joyous occasion that men created to worship and thank God for what He has done. Its a time that we should be focusing in on God and how He has blessed us by sending Jesus, that’s why we have Christmas in the first place. So why is it we insist on stressing and worrying and getting ourselves involved in so many activities that we lose sight of the real reason for Christmas?

You’ve probably had a Christmas or two like that. A time where you worried over finances, bought too much or worried that you had bought too little.  You got involved in so many parties and events that you couldn’t keep up. And your spiritual life suffered so much, your spirit was wounded and you just wanted to go and hide somewhere.

Its time to get off that Christmas Merry-Go-Round. And only you can get yourself off of it.

I want to encourage you to make this Christmas different. You can do it by doing two simple things each day. Every morning when you get up,

1. Grab your Bible and turn to the Gospel of Matthew and Luke and read one chapter per day in either book starting at the beginning.

2. Talk to God and ask Him to be the center of your celebration this year.

You can also begin to make major changes in your Christmas with some small steps. Even small things can make a huge difference in the way you feel about Christmas and how you celebrate it.  Remember that all the gift giving is simply a token of remembrance of God’s greatest gift to us; Jesus, His Son.  Don’t add so many things to your calendar this year. Put a budget on spending and stick to it. Smile at your family! Bless them with good words of encouragement.

I’ve discovered that doing small, enjoyable things with my family brings a very large return in the form of joy and peace!  We make cookies, make ornaments, decorate the tree and house together and attend all our Church’s Christmas programs together.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much this will effect your attitude, your thoughts and your Christmas. You’ll be blessed by keeping your focus on Jesus.
