“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
I love Thankful Thursdays! I need a reminder many times to be noticing the blessings from God and how God has brought through the trials of life.
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Psalm 95:1-2
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
Here are some categories to think through as you seek to thank God today:
God loved us so much, that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to take our punishment. By our faith in the finished work of Jesus, we who were enemies of God could be completely restored to Him and be with Him forever.
God gave us His Word, the Bible, so that we might know His truths. It has everything we need to live the life He wants for us to live.
God created the world we live in with everything we need to sustain us: food, shelter, air, soil, beauty…
God put people in our lives who love us whether it be family, friends, or church family.
God planned good works for us to do. We have purpose. We can be His vessel to reach the world for Him.
These are just a few ideas of why we can praise Him today! Please share with me in the comments section: What are you thankful for today?
Even though it is already Friday! I am thankful that I read your posts ladies, Patty and Ellen, especially, reminding me that I can choose to be thankful even when things around me don’t look too good! There is always something to be thankful for such as you put it – my hard working husband, a quiet time in the morning, a paycheck of some sort! Oh these are challenging times! But then, they do challenge us to be resourceful and productive in the face of adversity. Most of all they cause us to lean in hard on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The One I am most thankful for.
I am thankful to God for one life of miracles. My life is a miracle!
I am thankful for God’s grace and my faith.
I am thankful to God’s angels, for the Bible, for my parents.
I am thankful to God for my childrens ( four miracles, too), for my grandson.
I am thankful for my friens, who pray for me, every day.
And I am thankful for my pupils.
Thankful for your messages, sisters.
I am thankful for heavenly fathers plan of salvation and for all the family friends and loved ones that are so supportive. I am also thankful for blogs like this one!
I am thankful to God for calling me into His family and adopting me. He didn’t hold my past against me; just loved me and saved me.
I’m thankful
– that we have had 2 paychecks in the last couple of weeks. (My husband is a realtor; I’m a stay-at-home mom.)
– for friends who helped us through the lean months with groceries and encouragement.
– for the Bible study on John that makes me see Jesus in all his power, glory, and honor.
– for godly women God has placed in my life to keep me on track.
Thank you, Karen for this post. I needed to hear this today. I’m not feeling thankful bout much of anything this morning. But I know that is just me being selfish and feelign sorry for myself and my circumstances.
I’m thankful today for Godly women like you that He has brought into my life.
Blessings
Patty H.
