...a God to serve...a family to love... a work to do...

Thankful Thursday

Time to count some blessings!  I’m so thankful today for warmth, provision and family. For that first cup of steaming hot tea on a frosty morning. And I am thankful that God condescends to commune with me, save me and guide me.

I’m so thankful for my Church Family. These are the true friends that God has brought along side of me through the years. These dear saints are the ones who are always available, always willing.

I hear a lot of women complain about their Churches. I’ve heard it for years.  And I guess there is probably some truth in some of it. After all we’re all just mortals who often slip and fail to live out our Christian faith. But the challenge I want to offer those women is to embrace those friendships, make them better, work at them. Because these are the people God has given each of us to walk through life with.

I’ve heard people only half-jokingly say, “I love the Church, its the people I’m not too fond of.”  But of course, we know that the Church IS the people Christ died for.

Knowing that, I feel even more thankful that God has given me these specific people to encourage, love, pray for and walk with.

What are you thankful for today?

I am thankful that God sent Jesus; I am thankful that Jesus came and died that I may live!
I am thankful for parents that gave me a life that included Jesus! Also for parents that prayed for me every day that I would accept Jesus. I am so grateful that Jesus is mine and I am His; that we walk together each and every day; that we talk each day to each other!!
I am thankful that I am married to the love of my life and we share 2+1 wonderful children who also love God with all their hearts.
I am thankful for a Godly Hubby who lives the Word of God; and has taught me so much in life!
I am thankful for my precious family; they have been there for me in the good times and the not so good times; with love and understanding!! When others have walked away they have stayed beside me.
I am thankful that we have a roof over our heads and food in the pantry and fridge-freezer. For the car we drive! For the chooks (chickens) in the backyard and two silly kitties’ that can’t make up their minds whether to be inside or out! :o)
I am so grateful for life!!! For all my wonderful friends that God has given us; both on-line and off!!

I am so thankful for my family! Last night I had the opportunity to play Mario Kart with my son on his DS and draw in my daughter’s artbook. Surrounded by my God, my husband, my children I see how blessed I truly am.

I am thankful for a season of rest. My husband has been out of work for three months and though he spends hours each day applying for jobs, there are still many more hours of free time left. He worked long hours for many years and I haven’t seen him this healthy and relaxed since before we had kids. I’ve been a stay at home mom for over 21 years. Although I am sometimes anxious for him to find a job, I am truly enjoying the opportunity to spend more time together that this affords us. We are living on savings and trusting the Lord for tomorrow. God is good! I am daily learning to trust Him more. I know that the peace we have through all of this is from Him!

A very sweet dog named Honey. I was feeling kind of low yesterday and she just came over and licked my face.

    She is a gift.

I am thankful for the vast spectrum of God’s creation. In birds, consider the hummingbird, fluorescent in the splendor of sunlight, and the red cardinal stark against the wintry snow. And then the marvel that God loves plain old me.
