Simple Gifts
‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free
‘Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain’d,To bow and to bend we shan’t be asham’d,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come ’round right.
Shaker dance song by 1848 by Elder Joseph Brackett
Its true, simple gifts are the best gifts. In our quest for simplicity in living and prepping for eventualities, we shouldn’t forget that the way many of us view gifts and gift giving is anything but simple. Spending large amounts of money on gifts that will be underused or discarded seems to be they way its done here in the US and other western countries.
Join me on The 21st Century Homekeeper radio program Thursday at 7 pm central time as my guest Vickilynn Haycraft from Real Food Living and the Get Real – Get Prepared radio show and I talk about gift giving and simple gifts. We’ll share thoughts that will inspire you to simplicity in giving, ideas for simple but meaningful celebrations and instructions and ideas for some really great gifts!
