How to Make Yeast Rolls For The Freezer
Drying and Marinating Tomatoes
Chili Bean Recipe
Ingredients:
10 pounds of soaked pinto beans. this will yield about 18 quarts of chili beans.
4 cups chopped bell pepper
7 cups onions, chopped
10-20 ounces Worcesteshire sauce
1/4 cup garlic powder
2/3 cup chili powder
1/2 cup salt
1 1/2 cup brown sugar or rapidura or use molasses
1/4 cup dry mustard
For some heat you can add 4-6 chili peppers, seeded and chopped, this is optional
Bring 7 quarts of water to a boil in a very large pot, water bath canner size or larger. Prepare all ingredients.
Add all ingredients, including beans, to the pot and bring slowly to medium high. Allow to boil for 5 minutes.
While the ingredients are cooking prepare your jars by boiling them and heat your lids and rings.
After 5 minutes of boiling,fill with the chili beans and other ingredients leaving a 1 inch head space.
Use a rubber spatula to release air bubbles in the jar.
Clean the tops and rims of the jars, add the lids and rings.
Process in a pressure canner at 10 pounds of pressure for 70 minutes. After pressure canning the beans will be fully cooked you just need to remove them from the jar and reheat or add to a favorite recipe.
Grammie’s Rainwater Laundry Soap
Collect 5 gallons of rainwater, strain out debris
Pour 2 1/2 gallons rainwater into a large plastic bucket
Add 1 can lye (14 1/2 ounces) slowly and stir in with a long handled wooden spoon or stick.
Slowly add 7 cups of olive oil or melted lard.
Stir continuously while adding the oil or lard.
Add:
1 cup ammonia
2 cups borax
3 cups favorite liquid detergent or grated Fels Naptha
1/8 cup bluing (you can omit this but it helps whites look whiter)
Rest of rainwater
Stir well and let sit. Stir daily for one week. After one week it can be used. It will become thick like gravy as it sits. Use about 1/2 cup per large load of laundry.
