Its the day before Thanksgiving here in the US. I thought I’d jot down a few things I am especially thankful for this year. Some are very serious and some are light-hearted, but I am thankful for them all and I know where my blessings come from! From God alone.
Salvation – I was saved from my sin and God’s judgment in July of 1969. I’m also thankful for God’s care and guidance through the years as He grows me into the image of Jesus.
My family – its hard for me to believe that Mark and I have been married 30 years and our children are all just about grown up. Our grandchildren are the light of our lives and I look forward to the future and seeing everyone grow and mature and learn to love the Lord. I love having a lot of children! I enjoy seeing their personalities blossom, their minds open to knowledge and their creativity shine.
My home – tiny little thing that it is, it has brought us shelter, warmth and security all these years. God has given us the grace and understanding we need to all live here together. Its paid for too, so I can’t imagine going and buying a new home in our retirement years just so we can have another house payment.
Mark’s job – its been steady for a lot of years and I am thankful.
Sierra Mist with cranberry – yep, its my fav and I only buy it at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Pumpkin pie – like Mammy made, with fresh pumpkin and not that pureed stuff.
Cold weather – I haven’t forgotten how HOT it was this year!
Baking bags – they are da BOMB.
Caramel Coffee – with heavy cream
Original April Fresh Downy – lots of memories tied up with that scent. Don’t give me anything else. If I use fabric softener, that’s it.
Daughters – a whole post could be written about daughters and why I am thankful. They are both helping me today in the kitchen. They brighten my day.
My Sister In Law – she’s like a real sister to me, only without the emotional baggage that comes along with sisters sometimes.
I really enjoyed reading your list. This year I had everyone write things they were thankful for- 1 thing for each year of their life- Caitybug did 5, Collin 12, Heath 40, and I had did 37. It was fun. We saved them, and I think we are going to do it again next year.
That’s such a good idea, Jennifer!
