A voice says, “Cry!” And I said,“What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the Lord blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.
Isaiah 40:6-8
The one thing in life that is certain, solid, is the Word of God. People are like grass according to the Word, and they will wither or die. And in addition to that, scripture teaches us that people will often prove to be unreliable and weak in our time of need. But His Word will stand strong and it will strengthen us if we read it and store it in our hearts.
There is no excuse, for a Christian living in most countries, not knowing the Bible. We are blessed in this country and in many other countries, with having the Word of God at our fingertips at any time of the day or night. Most all of us have a personal Bible. And if you are reading here you have internet access where you can read any translation of the Bible at a click of the mouse.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:8-11
His Word accomplishes that which it set out to do. It accomplished what He desires. And we need to saturate ourselves in the Word so that it can accomplish in us what He desires. The question we should ask ourselves is this: Do I seek Him with all my heart? Or am I a half-hearted seeker who knows she should be seeking God but won’t make the effort to immerse herself in the Word? What is good for the young man in these verses is good for us all! …….
How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:9-11
Ask yourself ……
Do I seek God with all my heart? Do I esteem His Word and saturate myself with it? Like a savings account, I must make deposits of the Word into my mind so that when I need it, it is there!
You can make a new start and begin a serious study of God’s Word in the coming year. Don’t make a resolution, make up your mind to obey God and learn what His Word says.
Amen Amen Amen!! May we be women of His Word!!
