Do you like Elderberry? I’m not too fond of the taste. But I put together a tea that I like and I think you might like it too. I drink it every day, just a small cup. It contains:
2 Tablespoons dried elderberries
2 big slices of ginger
Cardamom – I have pods so I crushed about 7 pods and used them
1 tablespoon or so of rose hips. Rose hips will tend to over power hot drinks so start at 1 tablespoon and increase as desired.
Raw honey to sweeten
Boiling water
Put everything except the honey in your pot, pour about 1 cup of boiling water over and let it steep for 10 minutes.
You can put a dish cloth around your tea pot to keep it warm while it steeps. Don’t add your honey while it is super hot. That will kill some of the benefits of the honey. After it has steeped, you can sweeten it with raw honey. Its delicious! And healthy.
Elderberries have been shown to have anti-viral properties and is an immune builder. Raw honey is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant and helps with digestive issues. Rose hips are chock full of vitamin C. Cardamom tastes delicious but it is also an anti-bacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powerhouse! Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory that helps your body ward off germs.
One cup a day is a way of boosting your immune system and helping your body fight off infections. If you like the taste of the tea, I suggest that you pour another 1/2 cup of boiling water over the used ingredients and make another 1/2 cup of tea.
If you try this tea, let me know what you think!
