...a God to serve...a family to love... a work to do...

Are You In Church?

But as for me, I will enter Your house through the abundance of Your
steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You.
Psalm 5:7

I hope you are able and obedient in going to worship Jesus this week with a body of believers. God never intended us to go it alone, but to be a part of a group of dedicated believers in Christ Jesus.

When you became a Christian, God called you into a relationship and fellowship with Himself through Jesus.
God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

But something we sometimes overlook is that we are also called into fellowship and relationship with other believers.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3

And we are commanded not to give up worshiping with that body of believers. This verse should be completely sufficient for teaching us that we should be in Church.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

Go to Church, listen to the Word of God, meet people who are just like you; sinners who need a Savior. Find strength, prayer partners, teachers, friends. Be obedient to God in this.

    Dear Kristi,
I think you do what you’re doing. You worship the Lord with others even if its not a traditional Church setting. After all, that is what the first believers did, they worshiped in their homes with other believers.
And I think you pray over this because perhaps the Lord wants you and your family to minister to others who are searching for Truth as well.
    Love,
    Sylvia

    Kristi,
I totally understand where you are coming from. I’m in a very similar situation. My family and another in this town get together every week for bible study, worship and lessons for the children. We’ve decided whenever we can afford it, (about twice a month) we will be driving 2 hrs away to a church that we are comfortable with so that we can still have that occasional “congregational feeling”.
I cherish the fellowship of fellow believers, but I won’t forsake truth for fellowship, so we do what we can.
Thank you Jesus, for groups on the internet that can provide extra support for christians like ourselves!

I agree, but we’ve run into a problem. What do you do when the only fellowship around is walking in a decidedly unBiblical way? What do you do when the congregation is not just “not perfect,” as, of course, no church is, but is actually going against what you find in the Scripture? That’s where we are at the moment, and I’m so very, very confused and upset by the fact that we feel we truly can’t support our local church, or fellowship anymore. Unfortunately, the area we live in doesn’t provide much (read: any) other options. We’ve been getting together with another family, similar to ours, but, of course, it’s just not the same. 🙁 I miss fellowship within a congregation, I just don’t see any way to do that at the moment.

Thanks for this admonishment. It’s easy to get tangled up in our feelings, rather than what God’s word tells us to do.

Absolutely agree! We need to be in fellowship, and receive teaching from the Bible on a regular basis. 🙂
